Ylpeydellä kauneudella vääryydellä viekkaudella

Ylpeydellä kauneudella vääryydellä viekkaudella (With Pride Beauty Injustice Slyness) is an animated work based on archival photographs. The work was produced for the retrospective exhibition of the Finnish sculptor Wäinö Aaltonen (1894–1966) in Tampere Art Museum.

The work deals with the contradictions and pain points of building a national identity and the role of public art in it, using Aaltonen’s Birkarl statues in Tampere as surfaces of reflection.
