Exit
VIDEO INSTALLATION, 2010
TWO CHANNEL INSTALLATION, 2014
At the end of the corridor there is a single door, marked with an exit sign on the wall. Out of this door bulges out a mass of moving body parts, mouths, eyes, ears, hands and feet, accompanied by body liquids flowing around. A cacophony of bubbling, breathing and moaning can be heard coming from the mass. The work was realized with back projection and translucent glassfibre sculpture on the doorway working as the screen.
This last piece in my 2010 thesis exhibition provided a kind of loop back to the exhibition’s first work. If the spectator chooses not to use this exit, is the reality behind the front door any different?
A completely revised version for two projectors, based on the same material, was exhibited at Salo Art Museum in 2014.
