In 2006 I participated in a project called Art Express, realized in March 2006 at Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art and around the city of Helsinki. Like a pizza taxi serving art, works were delivered to people’s homes and institutions around the metropolitan area.
My work was called Guardian XL, a “home security” device that was carried into the living room of whoever ordered it. In seconds the residents found themselves trapped against the wall by a huge airbag, which emerged from the device.
The size of the thing, made of nylon fabric and inflated by an industrial fan, was approximately 5 x 6 x 2.5 meters and thus it was able to fill most living rooms completely.
